Satyanarayan Puja Vidhi
Shri Satyanarayan Puja is the most widely performed home puja in Hinduism. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the form of Satyanarayan. The ritual is described in the Reva Khand of the Skanda Purana. It is performed on Purnima, Ekadashi, Amavasya, house-warming, weddings, child-birth, business inaugurations, or any auspicious occasion.

📋 Puja Procedure — Steps
Step 1: Sankalp
Bathe and wear clean clothes. Sit at the puja spot, take water, akshata and flowers in hand and recite the sankalp.
Step 2: Kalash Sthapana
Fill a copper/clay Kalash with water, place mango leaves, and set a coconut on top. The Kalash represents Lord Vishnu.
Step 3: Shodashopchar Puja
Seat the idol/photo of Satyanarayan on a pedestal and worship with 16 offerings.
Step 4: Panchamrit Abhishek
Bathe the deity with milk, curd, ghee, honey and sugar (Panchamrit), followed by sacred water.
Step 5: Katha Recitation
All family members sit together. The priest or a senior member reads the five chapters of the Katha. Chant "Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya" after each chapter.
Step 6: Aarti & Prasad
Perform aarti. Distribute Sheera/Panjiri prasad to all present and neighbours. Never disrespect the prasad — the Katha describes this as a grave fault.
