Thaipusam Kavadi Puja Vidhi (Malaysia)
Thaipusam is the biggest festival for Malaysian Tamils. Every year 1.5 million devotees visit Batu Caves. Paal Kudam (milk pot carrying), Vel piercing, and Kavadi Attam are the key features of Malaysian Thaipusam. Climbing 272 steps to reach the Batu Caves temple is a sacred experience.

படி 1: Viratham — 48-Hour Fast
தைப்பூசத்திற்கு 48 மணி நேரத்திற்கு முன்பு கடுமையான சைவ விரதம் மேற்கொள்ளுங்கள். மது, புகைபிடித்தல் மற்றும் அசைவ உணவுகளை முற்றிலும் தவிர்க்கவும். Observe strict vegetarian fasting 48 hours before Thaipusam. Completely avoid alcohol, smoking, and non-vegetarian food.
படி 2: Kavadi Pledge & Vel Puja at Home
வீட்டில் முருகன் முன் காவடி நேர்ச்சை செய்து வேல் பூஜை நடத்துங்கள். குடும்பத்தினர் முன்னிலையில் சங்கல்பம் எடுங்கள். Take the Kavadi pledge before Murugan at home and perform Vel Puja. Take Sankalpam in the presence of family.
படி 3: Paal Kudam Procession — 272 Steps
பால் குடத்தை தலையில் சுமந்து பத்துமலையின் 272 படிகளை ஏறுங்கள். "வேல் வேல் முருகா" முழக்கத்துடன் ஏறுங்கள். Carry the milk pot on your head and climb the 272 steps of Batu Caves. Ascend with the chant "Vel Vel Muruga".
படி 4: Kavadi Attam & Vel Piercing at Temple
கோவிலில் காவடி ஆட்டம் நிகழ்த்துங்கள். அர்ச்சகர் வழிகாட்டுதலில் வேல் குத்தல் சடங்கு நடைபெறும். பால் குடத்தை அபிஷேகமாக சமர்ப்பிக்கவும். Perform Kavadi Attam at the temple. Vel piercing ritual takes place under priestly guidance. Offer the milk pot as abhishekam.
